Scholarship is an important part of the Alumni Society's mission. The Society sponsors seven student scholarships. In 2003, three of the seven scholarship endowments were completed. Each scholarship offers an annual award of $1,000 to the recipient.  See scholarship criteria (Download Adobe Acrobat Reader for PDF, new window) for more information.

The James F. Draper Scholarship (formerly the Alumni Society Scholarship ) - Named for Mr. James F. Draper in recognition of his dedicated leadership, wisdom and counsel to the Alumni Society. The Society's basic financial - need based scholarship, this award is subject to the criteria as outlined under Section II of the Scholarship Guidelines and as determined by the Office of Financial AidPlease make your gift to this scholarship fund now.

Healy Family Merit Scholarship of the CNU Alumni Society - This scholarship shall be is awarded to an incoming freshman who meets the criteria of Section II (excluding Item #1) and will reside in the residence hall. Grade point average evaluation shall be is based on most recently available high school transcripts. Recipients of this scholarship shall will be evaluated and determined by the Office of Financial AidPlease make your gift to this scholarship fund now.

The Alumni Society Honors Council Scholarship - The recipient pool for this scholarship is a A ll students within the Honors Program are eligible for this scholarship . Evaluation and determination of the recipient shall be is made by the director of the Honors Program using his or her own subjective criteria. The Marshall Booker Graduate Scholarship of the Alumni Society - The recipient pool for this scholarship is A a ll students enrolled in graduate studies at the university CNU are eligible. Evaluation and determination of the recipient shall be is made by the dean of the Graduate School. Financial need is not a mandatory requirement for this award.  Please make your gift to this scholarship fund now.

The Alumni Society Fine and Performing Arts Scholarships: Fine Arts, Theater and Music - One award will be is presented to a deserving student from each of the following departments: Fine Arts, Theater and Music. Evaluation and determination of the recipients shall be is made by the director of each department. Financial need is not a mandatory requirement for these awards. The Alumni Society recognizes that students in good standing may need financial assistance to enable them to pursue their own educational goals and that our its assistance enhances their chances of success, and their success and excellence enhance s the reputation and character of Christopher Newport University. We also intend to show that the Alumni Society is a hands-on organization that takes a personal interest in the needs of students.
